Grab a cup of coffee and let me show you around my little studio where I spend a lot of my day designing, computing, watercolor painting, practicing calligraphy and handlettering.

About Those New Mini Calendar Stands...

When you get a mini wood stand, you will own a piece of my creative history! For Christmas in 1978, my parents gave me a brand new drafting table when I was in high school. Back then, I took all the drafting and architecture classes I could and I was always drawing floor plans and what-not at home. They made a wise purchase. That drafting table was “my place” and I loved it. Many attempts of creative endeavors were made on that table over the years, even today. After moving countless times, one of the frame bars split. My Favorite Woodworker repaired it and it was fine but I couldn’t adjust the height anymore. Until I got an idea. I wanted to redesign my table to more easily adjust to any angle and any height. Nowadays with calligraphy, some projects have me standing, some sitting, at that drafting table. I tried to find a new one with my idea, but it didn’t exist. I needed something new but I loved my old table. A redesign was brewing. I bought a hydraulic adjustable table from Costco. Then My Favorite Woodworker and I took the drawing board off the old frame. He made a large, adjustable tabletop frame for my old board, and I put that on the Costco table. Oh. My. Goodness. A dream come true! I got to keep the drawing surface with my old parallel rule AND get adjustability in both directions. What a back-saver too. But what to do with the old frame? When I asked My Favorite Woodworker about my mini calendar idea, which needed new mini stands (hint hint), he suggested using the old drafting table frame. Let me tell you that these little stands are perfect for their new 2021 job. I hope you will enjoy owning a piece of my creative history, both current and past! Note: the light colored (maple) stands are made from the old drafting frame; the dark mahogany stands are not—they are gorgeous too!

The light-colored (maple?) calendar stands are repurposed from my old drafting table.
